Klutch Komeback vs the Kansas City Kid

Called up Greg Saturday afternoon to see if he wanted to brave Johnson (of course he didn't), and we settled on his home turf of Lamar instead. For the front nine I wasn't playing all that bad, but not particularly well, either, and Greg had brought his 'A game', and took the front 9 by a stroke. Megan bowed out of the 2nd 9, and me and Greg set off again around the horn for the decisive round. By the 11th, I was down by three strokes, but I managed to come back on a lucky hole 12 (where a wayward shot turned into a fortunate roller that put me next to the basket for a birdie), and a conservatively played 13 where the score tied up and remained so up to the last hole (we even managed to both shoot a 4 on hole 16(7), which is usually where somebody stumbles). It came down to the last hole, where I had a nice drive around the pond, taking the short route, and Greg shanked it into the trees (not too bad, bouncing back out in the open). Greg's 2nd shot was a worm burner that came up short, giving me an opportunity, if I could make a decent approach shot. Unfortunately, my approach went long and wide, and I ended up about 30 feet to the left and beyond the basket. Greg's next approach shot was better, leaving him a long but makeable putt. Amazingly, I managed to sink my putt for par, and walk away with a 2 stroke lead after Greg flubbed his putt. A fun round, a little chilly by the time the sun was starting to sink, but a beautiful spring weekend. Hoping to go out again sometime in the afternoon with Terri and Candy (maybe Old Farm).
